Developer Educator • Systems Architect • Speaker

I help people understand, adopt, and build complex technical systems.

Over the course of a career spanning more than three decades, I have worked across software development, developer education, cloud platforms, technical content strategy, and community building. My background includes leadership roles at MongoDB, Heroku, Cisco, and Treehouse, where I focused on helping developers successfully navigate new technologies through practical education and real-world implementation guidance.

Today my work centers on the intersection of:

  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Institutional Memory
  • Knowledge Systems
  • Digital Preservation
  • Local-First Computing
  • Data Provenance

I am the creator of the Sovereign Systems Specification, an open-source framework exploring operator-owned AI infrastructure, deterministic context engineering, and the long-term economics of modern AI systems.

In parallel, I am building projects that explore conversational access to institutional archives, digital preservation workflows, provenance-aware systems, and the challenges of preserving knowledge in an increasingly AI-driven world.

I sometimes write about technology and development at my blog. Check it out!
